Former death row inmate Curtis McCarty will be among the speakers at True Stories - Live "Second Chances" on February 2. McCarty was exonerated in 2007 after serving 19 years on death row in Oklahoma for a murder he did not commit. He was convicted twice and sentenced to death on three separate occasions based on evidence that included testimony from a forensic examiner later fired for forensic fraud. McCarty was freed after the Innocence Project showed his DNA did not match evidence found at the crime scene. McCarty lives in Lincoln. He has yet to receive any compensation -- or an apology -- from the state of Oklahoma.
